Abstract:   As we continue our path towards Exascale computing we face challenges such as dramatic increases in system-wide concurrency, heterogeneity in compute and storage, and reduced MTTI driven by lower power thresholds and higher component counts. While the HPC community has made good progress in beginning to address these challenges as they relate to the computational platform, programming models, and applications, much less has been done to begin to address these challenges as they relate to the storage environment. Fortunately, many of the challenges we face in Exascale storage are shared by the broader Big Data and Cloud ecosystem allowing us to leverage efforts and lessons learned in these environments. In this talk, Mr. Shipman will discuss this convergence and the potential for shared solutions to these challenges.
