Dr. Matthias Brehm

Group Leader HPC, Leibniz Rechenzentrum

Dr. Brehm received his Diploma and a Ph.D. in Meteorology from the University of Munich in 1986. Afterwards, he joined Leibniz Supercomputing Centre in Garching/Munich (LRZ) to build up the supercomputing services there. Today, Leibniz acts as one of three top computing facilities in Germany for technical and scientific computing. Dr. Brehm is group leader of the High Performance Computing Group at LRZ and is responsible for the application and the user support.
He has large experiences with the procurement, operation and user support for many generations of HPC systems. His focus is on program optimization, scaling and benchmarking. The current research involvement in the EU Autotune project covers the automatic optimization of energy consumption of applications.
