Prof. Dr. Jan-Philipp Weiß

Head of Computing Lab on Hardware-Aware Numerics, Engineering Mathematics & Computing Lab, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

Jan-Philipp Weiß studied mathematics at the universities of Stuttgart and Freiburg, Germany, and worked as a researcher at the universities of Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe, Germany. He received a Ph.D. from University Karlsruhe (TH) in mathematics in 2006 and was appointed junior professor in 2008. From 2008 until 2012 he lead a Shared Research Group at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in joint collaboration with the company Hewlett-Packard on multicore and coprocessor technologies in HPC and numerical simulation. He is now heading the Computing Lab on Hardware-aware Numerics at the Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab (EMCL) at KIT. His research addresses parallel programming techniques and numerical methods for emerging multi- and manycore processors in numerical simulation and scientific computing.
