Alessandro Curioni, IBM Research - Zurich, Switzerland (firstname.lastname@example.org). Dr. Curioni received his diploma in Theoretical Chemistry and PhD in Computational Materials Science from the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy. He joined the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory in 1998 as Research Staff Member in the Computational Biochemistry and Materials Science group. In 2007 he has been appointed Manager of the Computational Science Group and since 2012 he heads Head of the Mathematical and Computational Sciences Department. In 2011 he was inducted into the IBM Academy of Technology. His main research interest is the development of atomistic simulation methods and their application to frontier problems of materials science and life sciences, with particular focus in the design of materials with tailored properties. He is also a world-renowed expert in high performance computing and is involved in the scaleout of Deep Computing applications on massively parallel supercomputers such as Blue Gene.
